The Medical Importance of Mosquitos

This animated educational video was created for Cyprus’ Technical Committee on Health, as part of an awareness campaign that aims to inform the public on the existence of a new invasive species of mosquitoes and what can be done to combat them.

The animation informs the viewers on important facts related to specific mosquito species, their individual characteristics, habitats and breeding areas in a clear and engaging way.

The various mosquito species featured in the video have been carefully designed, to help viewers to identify them when seen in real life. To achieve that we have created extremely detailed and realistic illustrations.

Through the dissemination of this animation that was commissioned by the UNDP, the public is well informed on not only how to identify the various mosquito species but more importantly, on how they can take certain actions that can contribute to controlling the mosquito populations.

The project was funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in coordination with OSASG-Cyprus.
